ERHARDT RECEIVES CONSTRUCTION AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

Erhardt is honored to receive the 2010 Award of Excellence for Living Area Construction for the Breton Ridge at Breton Woods of Holland Home project. The award was given by the Associated Builders and Contractors-West Michigan Chapter at their Annual Construction Awards banquet held on October 26.

Holland Home is Michigan’s largest non-profit provider of services to seniors. Erhardt Construction’s long-standing history with Holland Home includes building this latest facility on the Breton Woods campus.

The construction consisted of a seven-story, 298,000-square foot senior independent living community. The facility includes 123 resident condominiums and underground parking. Community spaces include a chapel, exercise room, dining facility, and a retail area where light refreshments, such as ice cream or a cup of cappuccino can be enjoyed. There is also a billiards room and a library. The project also included an open-air patio overtop a portion of the parking structure.

JOHN B. EVANS, DIRECTOR OF PROJECT DEVELOPMENT, IS HONORED WITH DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD

John Evans received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Vincennes Lincoln School Academic Society, in his hometown of Vincennes, Indiana. The award recognizes outstanding graduates for achievement and service to society, and is intended to inspire today’s students through the example of others. The Academic Society promotes and encourages the pursuit of academic excellence and recognizes and rewards achievement in the classroom and community.

Early in John’s career, he joined the Mitchell Management Systems in Boston, and worked as an architect and board member for the International Housing/Software Company. In one four-year period with Mitchell Management, John traveled to 40 countries and 40 states, spending significant time in Egypt, Kenya, Indonesia, Mali, Korea and Malaysia.

From 1980 - 1987, he was a member of the faculty at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. There he taught courses in architecture design, computers, construction management and facility management and served two terms on the first Texas A&M Faculty Senate.

Other firms he has worked with are Workstage LLC, URS Corporation (formerly Greiner, Inc. and Daverman Associates), ETP (Evans/Turnipseed Partnership). In addition he has given freely of his time and architectural expertise to the building of orphanages and other projects on mission trips to other countries.

John has been a member of the American Institute of Architects, Facility Management Institute, International Management Institute and the Rotary and Optimist Clubs of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also serves as a Sunday school teacher and Elder in his church.

One of the finest moments of his career was returning to his hometown representing URS, one of the largest design and engineering firms in the world. Along with his URS team, John was instrumental in the development and construction of the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center at Vincennes University.

John has been married to his wife, Gail for 29 years. They have three children: Daniel, 28, James, 26 and Noella, 23.


ERHARDT CONSTRUCTION IS RUNNER UP FOR COTY AWARD













The American Subcontractors Association of Michigan named its Contractor of the Year award during its event held September 29, at the Goei Center. Of the ten construction firms nominated, Erhardt Construction finished as runner-up for the COTY award.

The award gives ASAM, an organization of 5,500 member companies, an opportunity to nominate and recognize general contractors or construction managers who exhibit best practices, professionalism and collaboration with Michigan’s subcontracting community. ASAM members can nominate award candidates through online voting. The candidates are scored for performance in several criteria, including bid ethics and practice, safety, job-site supervision, communications, schedule coordination, project relations, lien processes, administrative procedures, payment terms and quality workmanship.

Erhardt Construction is honored to be recognized so highly by ASAM and thanks all of the membership for their support.
